WELCOME!

Adrian and I have called New Zealand home since 1987, when we lived on Stewart Island. We moved there from the North of Scotland, and have since lived in several places around NZ, mostly in Canterbury.

Wilson’s Hotel has been part of Reefton’s story since 1888, when it was first built by James Wilson of Boatmans.

The building was extended in the early 1900s, and today it remains the oldest continually trading hotel building in Reefton

More than a century later, Wilson’s remains a place of gathering, stories, and hospitality - proudly carrying its past into the present.

ACCOMMODATION

A bedroom with a bed covered in green bedding, a window with green curtains, a small bedside table with bottles, and a ceiling light

It has been our pleasure to renovate our public areas, shared bathrooms and bedrooms.

Wilson’s hotel was built in the late 19th century and has charming old quirks, overlaid with comforts of today. With new wool carpet and new quality beds and bedding, we hope you have a comfortable stay!

Bathroom with two round illuminated mirrors above two wooden vanities, each with a modern vessel sink, a soap dispenser, and a large window to the right, with patterned tile flooring and a ceiling light.

RESTAURANT & BAR

At Nourish, our menu is available from opening until close - so if you arrive late in town, you know where to head! We also serve coffees long after usual café hours.

If you’re more in the mood for a beer and a game of pool or darts, our sports bar is open too, with food available.

Interior view of a cozy cafe with wooden and black chairs around tables, pendant lights hanging from a dark ceiling, large windows letting in natural light, and a richly patterned red carpet.

EVENTS

A male musician with shaggy hair, wearing a black jacket, is sitting on a stool playing an electric guitar in a dimly lit bar or music venue, with a woman and another man in the background.

We host a range of events throughout the year, including Oktoberfest, Christmas Lunch, live music, and activity-based mini breaks designed to make the most of everything the area has to offer.

We have locals who can organise a variety of experiences - from fishing trips and carving your own local greenstone, to gin tastings, guided Reefton history walks, breath workshops, line dancing, gold panning, or a visit to Maruia Hot Springs, a world-class spa just 45-minutes away.

We are spoiled for choice in this area and we would love to share this with you.

CATERING

Set of utensils including forks and knives in a wooden container on a patterned black table near a window.

We offer in-house catering packages to suit any style of event you or your company may wish to host - from finger food and afternoon tea to plated meals or buffet-style dining. Catering at other venues is also available.

We’re always happy to talk through your needs and help you create a plan that works for you.

"Went for lunch. Food was exceptional. Service was excellent. Staff were the most welcoming people and very entertaining. Will definitely be going there again."

"New owners a lovely Scottish couple, very warm and welcoming, as of a couple of months ago. This is the place to come for a great steak, lamb shank, ribs or burger but there is more on the menu. I got the ribs and they were delicious.

"We arrived Reefton late and hungry. After striking out at two other restaurants, Wilson’s re-opened their kitchen and treated us like family. Great food and warm, welcoming service!"
